The Boston Bull Terrier can live in an apartment just fine
so long as it is given enough mental and physical exercise.
They are relatively inactive indoors but enjoy the use of a
small yard when they are given it. This breed will have to
be kept indoors in extreme weather.
Your Boston Terrier needs a long daily walk and time to play
in a fenced area freely. This breed needs to stay in shape
to avoid obesity. They are relatively light and can easily
be carried around.
When stressed by excessive exercise, the Boston Bull Terrier
may have issues with breathing. Because these dogs have such
a short muzzle they can easily become stressed in hot or
cold weather and if pushed too hard they can overheat. They
may also have a problem with drooling or snoring.
In this breed heart and skin tumors are often a problem. The
prominent eyes are more vulnerable to injuries. Some Boston
Bull Terriers that are poorly bred have a genetic bone
defect that stunts the growth of bone in the skull, thereby
stunting brain growth. The resulting dog is retarded.
The average Boston Terrier Dog can reach fifteen to seventeen
inches in height and ten to twenty-five pounds in
weight. Both male and female are similarly sized. These
averages are based on a healthy average for the breed.
This breed is long lived and some dogs live fifteen or more
years. They have an average litter size of three to four
Boston Terrier puppies.
Because the Boston Terrier's head is so large, often puppies
must be delivered by Cesarean section because the pelvis of
the mother dog is so narrow. Their body type doesn't lend
for easy delivery of puppies.
